“Many jails in India waiting for Gandhi’s”: Assam CM hits back at Rahul Gandhi’s remarks – World News Network

Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 18 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma doubled down on Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his “jail” remarks, and said that there are many jails in India “waiting for the Gandhis”.
Speaking to the media, CM Sarma questioned how can Rahul Gandhi arrest a Chief Minister as he is just a MP.
“Today ED has seized many properties of Robert Vadra. There are many jails in India waiting for the Gandhis. If Rahul Gandhi can arrest me from inside the jail, then I don’t know. He is just an MP. How can he arrest a Chief Minister? Congress will not talk about employment, they will not talk about our land, culture. Congress party will fight elections here only on one agenda, that Himanta Biswa Sarma will be put behind bars. Who will vote for such a party whose manifesto will only be of one line?” the Assam CM said.
Reacting to the clash in the Paikan Reserve Forest area of Goalpara, CM Sarma said that police would go through the speeches made by Rahul Gandhi and Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
He said, “Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in a meeting yesterday, openly encouraged encroachers and Land Jihadis to encroach government lands. He did not realise that in the forest land people cannot be rehabilitated. He has clearly said that people will be rehabilitated in the same place. Today morning, the evicted people started throwing stones and beating police with sticks and other weapons. 21 police personnel were injured. When the police had no other option but to open fire, one encroacher died, and another is under treatment. Police have registered a case. We will see who is directly or indirectly responsible for this incident.”
“Police will go through the speeches made by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. If we see some elements invite penal action, the Police will not hesitate to take action against Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge,” CM Sarma further added.
He alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the Assam PCC President are the highest level of foreign elements.
“Rahul Gandhi himself is a foreign element. Every time he goes abroad, who knows where he actually goes? He is the main guy of George Soros. Rahul Gandhi and the Assam PCC President are the highest level of foreign elements,” he said.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi on July 16 said that Congress will sweep next year’s assembly polls in Assam and launched a sharp attack on Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying he does not think of himself as Chief Minister but a “king”.
Addressing a rally in Chhaygaon, Rahul Gandhi said that the party has a new team in the state under leadership of party MP Gaurav Gogoi and it will deliver results.
“The people of Assam know the truth… There will be elections soon, and the Congress will sweep those elections. We have created a new team here. We have started the work, and the people of Assam will soon see the results we will see it,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi, who is Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, termed Biswa as India’s “most corrupt Chief Minister” and said some day he will have to “account for it”.
He said that Chief Minister has “fear in his mind as he knows one day ‘babber shers’ of Congress will take him jail”. (ANI)
